A place like no other; where innovation and collaboration flourishes

The £30million Glasshouse project at Alderley Park set out to offer a rare haven of contemporary office and co-working spaces away from the hustle and bustle of the adjacent cities. The 150,000 sq. ft building is now a dynamic new community hub for tech companies and other forward-thinking businesses to collaborate and grow.

With a clear vision to create generous workspaces, we began work to bring Bridge Architects’ vision to reality and deliver a bespoke joinery package that had been designed with the unique needs and personalities of its occupiers in mind.

Within the Glasshouse’s central atrium, we constructed numerous seating pods, phone booths complete with cork panelled walls to increase soundproofing, quiet rooms, and communal areas that were designed to collectively inspire the exchange of knowledge and the sharing of ideas.

Other associated works delivered by JSJ included: bespoke tea points and staff breakout areas complete with solid surface worktops and tables, full reception area including reception desks, laminated panelling to entrances, stair landings and lift lobbies, bespoke ceiling panelling, lounge banquette seating, together with meeting rooms and feature walls which incorporated media walls, storage and specialist acoustic materials.

Floating alcove seating was also installed within the space, with our expert team working together with the architects to design a metal support framework and the necessary fixings which hadn’t been factored into the original design.

To ensure the workspace adhered to current building regulations, we also installed fire doors on a magnetic switch to ensure they would release and close automatically.

Dr Kath Mackay, Managing Director of Alderley Park, said: “Historically renowned as being home to one of the UK’s pre-eminent life science campuses, the arrival of Glasshouse signifies Alderley Park as a leading destination for innovative tech businesses too.”
