Kendal Town Hall, Cumbria

Project: Kendal Town Hall

Client: Caddick Construction

Total project value: £4.9million

Step into the future while honouring the past at Kendal Town Hall, a Grade II listed masterpiece in Cumbria. JSJ UK spearheaded the bespoke joinery manufacturing for this iconic transformation, a labour of love spanning from September 2020 to May 2022, marking one of our lengthiest endeavours to date.

Our brief from Caddick Construction was clear: breathe new life into this historic gem by meticulously recreating original features, paying homage to its splendour. The scale of the project demanded innovative solutions, including executing window replacements during nighttime road closures to minimise disruptions.

Within our Preston workshop, creativity thrived as we handcrafted bespoke joinery elements like the striking reception desk, self-serve desk, elegant seating areas, including window, bench, and alcove seating, credenza AC units, and an intricate media wall.

From the grandeur of the council chambers to the charming alcoves, every detail – from installing a raised floor to intricate panelling – was carefully considered. Not to mention the restoration of the iconic atrium roof, a testament to our commitment to heritage preservation.

Thanks to this £4.9 million project, Kendal Town Hall has emerged as a beacon of efficiency, accessibility, and community spirit. Now a hub of activity, the space seamlessly accommodates Southlakeland District Council staff, private businesses, and vibrant community groups like Women’s Community Matters. With its historic charm revitalised and modern functionality enhanced, Kendal Town Hall stands tall as a dynamic and inspiring space for all.
