An exciting opportunity has arisen within JSJ UK for a CAD Designer to join our team based in Preston, Lancashire.

JSJ UK specialise in Custom built Bespoke Joinery servicing the commercial industry throughout the UK, our main client base is within the Office fit-out, Leisure & Hospitality sectors.

The Role will be a position which will involve working within our Design Team, alongside our Project Managers & Production Manager.

The Role

  • The main aspect of the role is to produce and analyse detailed design drawings, being able to convert either Designers / Architects design intent drawings (or sketches) into workable technical drawings for joinery manufacture using AutoCAD software.
  • DXF files will need to be created for CNC machinery, co-ordinating requirements with our Production Manager.
  • Attend design meetings with client, architects, internal project managers and production as part of the design process.
  • To be conscious of costs and be able to propose design changes and alternative materials if necessary, as part of any value engineering process.
  • Uploading, issuing and managing drawings internally and externally via email or on to document portals.
  • Creation and control of RFI’s from the initial Design brief. Liaising with client, architects, project managers and production manager throughout each project.
  • Ability to attend site to take detailed surveys to assist in the design, manufacture and installation processes.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage workloads accordingly.

Be able to use Excel, Word, Email and undertake any training on the companies document control and HR systems.

Experience & Key Skill Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will have a joinery background who has been working in a design/drawing office environment previously.
  • The role will predominantly be 2D although as part of drawing services we offer, there is requirements for 3D & CGI drawing. Any 3D/CGI experience would be useful, although not a necessity.
  • Confident in being able to adapt to help the team work efficiently.
  • Good communication skills with clients and staff.
  • Flexibility with hours to assist workflow and achieve deadlines.
  • Confident or willing to use a range of software including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Familiar with Retail, Commercial, Hotels and Residential Sectors would be useful, although not a necessity.

Competitive rates of pay/salary will be based on skills and experience. This will be discussed at the interview stage.

Full Time Employment with probationary period.

Usual working hours 41 hours per week – Monday – Thursday 7:30am – 16:30pm.           Friday 7:30am – 15:00pm.

JSJ UK are a growing manufacturer and supplier of bespoke Joinery and interior fit outs within the commercial sector. Due to our continued growth we require a qualified CNC Machinist/Programmer with relevant experience to join our team based in Preston.

Role/Responsibilities:

  • Working with wood panels, veneered MDF / laminates on CNC Machine, including programming
  • Using other machinery including edgebander, panel saw, planner/thicknesser, spindle moulder, drum sander & cross-cut saw
  • Assembly of completed goods
  • Wrapping & loading goods for storage/delivery
  • Dealing with movement of goods, including deliveries into the workshop
  • Other workshop based tasks as required

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Proven experience/qualifications of using CNC Machine
  • Experience with CNC programming and Software (Woodwop & Magicut beneficial but not essential as training will be provided)
  • Manufacturing skills in joinery workshop
  • Understanding and setting up of machinery
  • Ability to manufacture purpose made joinery from CAD drawings
  • Ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills – with clients and staff
  • To be able to work to a high standard focussing on quality
  • Familiar with Retail, Commercial, Hotels and Residential Sectors
  • A Forklift licence would be beneficial, although not essential
  • CSCS qualification preferred but not essential
  • Experience working with solid surfaces would be beneficial although not essential

Must be willing to work out of normal working hours if/when required. (Weekends and Evenings)

JSJ UK are a manufacturer and supplier of bespoke Joinery and interior fit outs. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to proactively coordinate and manage workshop operations in conjunction with the Workshop Manager.

Key responsibilities

  • Co-ordination and monitoring of the activities in the workshop ensuring full utilisation of labour resources.
  • Ensuring a high standard of work on all tasks within the workshop and timely completion of work escalating any problems to the workshop Manager.
  • Coordinating with other departments including Design Team & Spray Shop ensuring goods are complete, quality checked, packaged correctly and ready on time.
  • Proactively raising awareness of any issues encountered during manufacture and seeking appropriate resolutions quickly.
  • Management of materials/stock items: placing orders with procurement team/direct with suppliers to ensure that materials are available when required and stock levels are maintained.
  • Health & Safety Management within the Workshop including completion of regular Health & Safety checks.
  • Training and supervision of new employees/subcontractors
  • Providing regular feedback/input to other departments to drive improvements to internal processes.
  • Attending internal management/production/design meetings in the absence of the Workshop Manager.

Requirements

  • Proven experience/qualifications of bench joinery, including working with wood panels, veneers & laminates and the ability to produce high standards of work.
  • Ability to manufacture purpose made joinery from CAD drawings.
  • Confident in overseeing the work of others and able to adapt to help the team work efficiently.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and confident decision making.
  • Good communication skills with clients and staff.
  • Ability to motivate team to achieve objectives, leading by example.
  • Flexibility with hours to assist workflow and achieve deadlines.
  • Understanding and setting up of machinery.
  • Ability to manufacture purpose made joinery from CAD drawings.
  • Confident using a range of software including Outlook, Word & Excel.
  • Familiar with Retail, Commercial, Hotels and Residential Sectors.
  • CSCS card would be beneficial, however support will be provided to achieve this if not already held.
  • Knowledge & ability to use CNC Machinery would be beneficial although not essential.

Salary dependent on experience, this will be discussed at interview stage

The following opportunity has arisen to join our team, we are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our team as a workshop/warehouse assistant.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting workshop team with day-to-day duties, including general labouring and housekeeping.
  • Collating/preparing materials & components for workshop team
  • Management of ‘goods in’ deliveries; including unloading, safe storage and accurate checking and sign off of delivery paperwork. (Use of forklift as required)
  • Preparing finished goods and site materials for delivery; including wrapping to avoid damage in transit and clear labelling to assist site teams.
  • Management of workshop and site stores; including general housekeeping, regular stock checks and liaising with procurement department to replenish, as necessary.
  • Movement of goods between workshop and on-site spraying booths.
  • Loading vans ready for deliveries
  • Organising collections and deliveries of goods from/to suppliers and sites.
  • Completion of vehicle safety checks
  • Assisting with Health and Safety and Quality checks using app-based software
  • Other duties as required to assist wider team

Skills/experience required

  • Ability to work independently using own initiative and taking responsibility for own areas of work.
  • Reliable, organised, conscientious and willing to work as part of a team.
  • Computer/tablet literate with experience of using app-based software, Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Full driving licence (penalty points must be disclosed for insurance purposes) and competent driving long wheel based, high top vans
  • Flexibility with working hours (weekend/evening work may occasionally be required)
  • A Valid forklift licence
  • Workshop & Warehouse experience would be beneficial, although not essential.

Hours per week: 41 Hours Per week – 7:30am – 16:30 Mon – Thurs, 7:30am – 3pm Friday.

Rate of pay negotiable depending on experience.
