JSJ UK delivered a complex bespoke joinery package across three floors of a new Manchester office on Deansgate, combining intricate curved joinery with flexible workplace solutions designed around collaboration, connection and modern ways of working.

Following the successful delivery of a new UK headquarters for a global fast-food operator, JSJ UK was appointed once again by TMT Contractors to deliver the bespoke joinery package for a workplace they were delivering in Manchester.

Working closely with TMT and the wider project team, JSJ UK transformed three floors of shell space into a contemporary office environment that reflects the client’s corporate identity while creating a varied mix of spaces for focused work, collaboration and social interaction.

A defining feature of the project was the extensive use of curved joinery. Horseshoe-shaped tea points, curved seating areas, integrated planters and booth seating were used throughout the workplace to create distinctive focal points while helping to break up the open-plan environment.

The curved elements presented a particular technical challenge, requiring detailed development and precise manufacturing to achieve consistent shapes, accurate alignment and seamless finishes.

JSJ UK’s in-house design and production teams worked closely throughout the development process, ensuring the architectural intent could be translated effectively into manufacturable components. Manufacturing the joinery at our Lancashire workshop also provided greater control over quality, detailing and coordination before each element was delivered to site.

Across the 8th and 9th floors, the joinery package incorporated high-level seating, booth seating overlooking the Manchester skyline, integrated planters, feature planting and a range of breakout areas. Each element was designed to support different ways of working, providing spaces for collaboration, informal meetings and social interaction alongside traditional desk-based areas, giving employees greater choice in how and where they work.

The 10th floor forms the central hub of the workplace, featuring a large bespoke tea point, three curved seating areas with integrated planters and a square booth seating arrangement. Together, these elements create a dedicated social space where employees can connect, collaborate and take time away from their desks.

Delivering the project within central Manchester presented logistical challenges, with restricted access and the pedestrianised nature of Deansgate requiring detailed planning. Deliveries were carefully coordinated through the building’s service lift, allowing installation to progress efficiently within the five-week programme.

The completed office demonstrates JSJ UK’s ability to deliver complex commercial joinery packages that combine creative design, in-house manufacturing and precise installation.

From the development of complex curved elements through to in-house manufacture and coordinated installation, JSJ UK delivered a high-quality joinery package that gives the client’s new Manchester workplace a distinctive identity while creating a flexible and collaborative environment for its people.
