Circle Square, Manchester

Client: Dragonfly Projects Ltd

We were thrilled to partner again with Dragonfly Projects Ltd to deliver bespoke joinery and fit-out features for a new office in the heart of Manchester. Located just off Oxford Road, the brief was to create a sleek, versatile reception that could also function as a dynamic co-working space, setting the tone for the entire ground floor.

A highlight of our scope was the suspended ceiling raft, comprising of ten meticulously crafted panels featuring intricate mosaic and floral detailing. Strategically positioned above a circular desk surrounding a feature tree, it instantly commands attention as the building’s focal point. Our team developed comprehensive technical drawings to guarantee exacting precision, fabricated the raft in our workshop over a three-week period, and completed on-site installation in just five days. The result is a flawless, powerful feature that catches the eyes of visitors from the moment they enter.

We also transformed an under-stair area into a compact, fully equipped tea point with bespoke units, a hot and cold tap, and a dishwasher. Alongside this, we designed, delivered, and installed a suite of custom lockers. Impressed with the original set, the end user later commissioned an accessible set for wheelchair users, which we produced to match the design, look, and functionality of the existing lockers.

Further works included a bespoke reception desk with integrated seating and a series of callroom desks and pod offices to support flexible, choice-led working, an area in which JSJ UK has become a recognised specialist. Together, these elements created a cohesive, functional, and bold workspace.

All works were completed within a challenging four-week programme, encompassing a large amount of bespoke joinery and installation activity within a relatively small footprint. This required careful sequencing, efficient use of space, and close coordination with the main contractor. The complexity was heightened by working inf a live building spanning 14 occupied floors. Noisy works were scheduled outside normal hours, and temporary hoarding ensured the reception remained safe and accessible at all times.

The project was delivered on time and to the exacting standards expected by Dragonfly and the end user. The result is a reception and ground floor fit-out that is both highly functional and visually striking.
