Lowry, Salford
Project: Lowry
Client: J Mills Contractors
Location: Salford
We were appointed by J Mills Contractors to carry out a fast-track transformation of The Law Family Galleries at the Lowry, a project successfully delivered in just two weeks, without compromising on quality or craftsmanship.
The brief was clear: to reimagine and revitalise the gallery walls, which had suffered significant wear and tear over the years. Many surfaces were cracked and deteriorating, presenting both a design and structural challenge. Drawing on our expertise, our team meticulously prepared the space, sanding down existing surfaces, cladding the walls with over 100 primed MDF sheets, filling all joints and sanding in preparation for decoration.
We finished by painting the walls in the Lowry’s signature purple, a defining colour throughout the theatre, which brought a renewed sense of cohesion and vibrancy to the galleries. The space is now fully refreshed and ready to host new exhibitions and welcome the public into a modern, revitalised setting for years to come.
Despite the logistical challenges of working in a public building that remained open throughout, including active gallery rooms and school visits, we successfully completed the project on time and within budget, delivering another result we’re proud of and another happy client.
Gareth Owen, Director at J Mills Contractors said: “The quality of team onsite was very fantastic, with every detail executed to the highest standard. The project was managed efficiently and professionally throughout, with clear communication and a strong commitment to timelines.
“We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JSJUK and look forward to working with them again in the future.”
This latest project strengthens our growing presence in the Salford Quays area. We previously worked just across the way at Quayside MediaCityUK, where our teams manufactured and installed bespoke seating areas, tables and recycling stations for the food court.
