Bespoke joinery for premium retirement village

Location: Hertfordshire, UK

JSJ UK was appointed to deliver a suite of high-end bespoke joinery works as part of a £5 million refurbishment of a prestigious retirement village in Hertfordshire. The project revitalised the historic Victorian Grade II listed manor house at the heart of the site, blending contemporary design with the building’s timeless charm.

The works transformed the reception, library, bar and restaurant, recreational room, and onsite shop. Key elements included a high-end reception counter, booth seating, bespoke shelving for books, and custom cabinets for glassware and drinks.

The historic nature of the building required careful handling of older surfaces and precise installation. With the manor house remaining open to residents, we completed the works in phases, coordinating closely with the client, end user, and workshop teams to ensure work areas were contained, everything was ready on time and disruption was minimised.

All bespoke joinery was manufactured at our award-winning Preston workshop, hand-packaged, transported, and installed by JSJ UK on site, delivering a seamless, end-to-end service for this premium scheme.

The project demonstrates JSJ UK’s ability to deliver high-quality bespoke joinery in historic and operational settings. By combining craftsmanship, careful planning, and attention to detail, we created functional and visually striking spaces that respect the heritage of the building while meeting the needs of older demographics.
